USA BASKETBALL

In 2001, Anthony participated in the USA Basketball Men’s youth Development Festival and led the team to win a silver medal. He averaged a team high adding 4.3 rebounds and shooting a Festival high 66.1 percent (39-59 FGs) from the floor and 76.5 percent (13-17 FTs) from the foul line. Carmelo Anthony was a member of the USA Junior World Championship Qualifying Team that traveled to Isla de Margarita, Venezuela in 2002. The team finished 4-1 and won the bronze medal. Anthony helped the team to lead with an average 15.6 ppg., while adding 6.2 rpg. (second on team), 1.8 apg., and shot 54.1 percent from the field, 33.3 (3-9 3pt FGs) from 3-point. Anthony became the second youngest player to score 40 points in a game, he was only 19 years when he achieved his feat. He was four times NBA Western Conference Rookie of the Month and two time NBA's Western Conference Player of the Week. He also scored in double figures in 72 of 76 games. Anthony is one of the highest youngest scorer, in 2003-2004 season he scored 20+ points in 44 games and in 28 of his last 32 games. Carmelo became the third youngest player in NBA to score 1000 points. This feat was complied when he was 19 years and 265 days. He also complied 30 points in his sixth game and became the second youngest player in NBA history after Kobe Bryant. Carmelo was also chosen for the 2004 USA Basketball Senior National Team in July, 2004.

COLLEGE
Carmelo Anthony played only for one season at Syracuse. In this single season as a freshman he showed his potential that he was all praises. Carmelo Anthony led the Syracuse to its first NCAA championship. Carmelo Anthony led the Orangemen with an 81-78 victory over Kansas. Anthony played the college game better than any freshman in NCAA basketball. Anthony was the third player to be named Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four. In the first season of college he compiled sufficient points to match those of DePaul's Mark Aguirre, Oklahoma's Wayman Tisdale and LSU's Chris Jackson. Anthony ended his first college season with something none of them managed. He made his team one of nation's best team. He was named second team All-America by The Associated Press as a freshman after leading Syracuse to a 30-5 record. All the points he scored led him to be the Big East Conference Freshman of the Year and an All-Big East First Team selection. He was also entitled as Big East Rookie of the Week which is a league-record, he repeated this feat 10 times. Anthony’s average in college was 22.2 points (16th in nation, 4th in Big East) and 10.0 rebounds (19th in nation, 3rd in Big East). He posted 22 double-doubles and led team in scoring in 24 of 35 games. At the National Championship games the team defeated the Kansas and Anthony managed to post 20 points, adding 10 rebounds. Anthony has always managed to make some record or the other. In six NCAA Tournament games he averaged 20.2 points and 9.8 rebounds.

HIGH SCHOOL

He started playing basketball in Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, where he was named a high school All-American. In his High School he led the Academy to a 32-1 record and Anthony was on the third position in the final national ranking in USA Today. He posted an average of 21.7 points and 7.4 rebounds. All this led him to be named First Team All-America by USA Today and PARADE. He was also entitled to the McDonald's All-America Team. At the McDonald's All-America Game he posted 19 points to help the East to victory.
